Handmade 22mm porcelain buttons finished with a soft yellow crystalline glaze and pale blue crystal blooms. Crystalline glazes are a specialty ceramic process where crystals form within the glaze during extended, carefully controlled firings.
Crystalline glazes require longer, more precise firing schedules than standard glazes, with extended holds to allow crystal growth. This method is significantly more labor- and energy-intensive, producing buttons with subtle texture and quiet visual complexity.
These ceramic buttons are smooth, durable, and garment-ready — designed for handmade clothing, knitwear, sewing projects, and slow fashion details. The porcelain body provides a refined base that allows crystalline surfaces to develop naturally.
⟡ Details
• Diameter: 22 mm
• Material: Porcelain
• Finish: Crystalline glaze in soft yellow with blue crystal blooms
• Holes: 2-hole
• Style: Minimal, organic, artisan
• Each button is one of a kind
🟡 Buttons are sold in sets of five (5). Photos may show multiple buttons for display purposes.
⟡ Selection & Balance
Each set includes a balanced mix of larger and smaller crystal formations. Crystal growth varies naturally from piece to piece; this intentional variation creates visual rhythm and harmony when used together on a garment.
-----------------------------------
✧ Craftsmanship
Each button is made start to finish in my studio — shaped, refined, slowly dried, fired, hand-painted with glaze, and fired again. The full ceramic process takes over a week and allows no shortcuts. No molds, no mass production. Subtle differences in geometry, glaze movement, and tone reflect the integrity of handcrafted ceramic.
Every. Thing. Matters.
-----------------------------------
⟡ Use
Ideal for wool knits, cardigans, linen garments, visible mending, and refined textile work. These buttons are durable enough for regular wear while offering a considered finishing element.
-----------------------------------
✧ Care
• Turn the garment inside out and place it in a soft garment bag before washing.
• Hand-washing is recommended.
• For dry cleaning, ask that each button be wrapped in foil or another soft barrier to protect the glaze.
⟡ Photography note: Images are taken in natural daylight. Light conditions vary between bright and overcast days, and while I carefully colour-correct for accuracy, minor tonal differences between photos may occur.
