A bold study in cobalt and porcelain, this vase comes from an early exploration of underglaze movement beneath a clear glaze. Wheel-thrown in my Toronto studio, its rounded silhouette and painterly blue marks make it a visually striking vessel—lively, modern, and unmistakably handmade.
Because this piece comes from my archive, it carries the honest traits of experimentation:
• Fine crazing throughout the glaze surface
• Mild blistering in a few areas where the cobalt underglaze reacts with the clear coat
These surface reactions don’t affect functionality; rather, they speak to the chemistry of the firing and the organic unpredictability of porcelain. The result is a vibrant, textural piece with a contemporary, almost watercolor-like character.
Perfect for fresh flowers, dried stems, or as a sculptural object on its own.

✧ Studio & Process
Every Silverwood Ceramics piece is created in my home studio in Canada, from design through final firing. Slight variations in colour, form, and surface are a natural result of the handmade process.
For studio work-in-progress and behind-the-scenes process, find me on Instagram @silverwoodceramics.
