The surface is carved with a honeycomb pattern that wraps across the circular form. Stylized bees and dotted flight paths are applied by hand in 22k gold lustre, then fired so the gold becomes permanently fused to the glazed surface.
The yellow crackle glaze is intentional, creating a fine network of lines that gives the piece visual depth and a gently aged character without compromising its function.
